Despite the challenges of our economically backward region, our dedicated faculty and students strive to excel in understanding the past, shaping the present, and building a brighter future. The Department of History at Government General Degree College, Ranibandh, began its journey in 2015 under the affiliation of Burdwan University, offering both Honours and General courses. Our department is led by two dedicated faculty members, and both of them are committed to providing personalized support and guidance to students, both on and off campus.

Ø Offers History Honours and Programme Courses (CBCS Curriculum) with an intake capacity of 27 students

Ø Introduces History Major, Minor, and Multidisciplinary Courses (NEP 2020 Curriculum) from the 2023-24 academic session, with an expanded intake capacity of 51 students.
