Since its inception, the Department of Bengali has been highly acclaimed as a distinguished department of education and culture. The department started its journey with Honors and General courses under Burdwan University from the beginning of the college in 2015. The course started with 35 students. The first honors batch graduated in 2018. We are under Bankura University since 2017.  From that time the CBCS (Honours & Programme) curriculum was introduced. Presently 3 years CBCS and 4 years NEP  courses are taught.  Currently the number of seats in this category is 102 and there are two full time teachers in the department.

Departmental exhibitions are organized by the department every year during the Annual Cultural Program. Wall Magazine will be issued in our department from 2023 onwards and the Farewell Reception for the students was started from that year. The topper of this course is awarded at the Annual Cultural Programme organized by the college.

Today this department is the pride of this college. Readings, discussions and cultural activities are done jointly by students and teachers.  The department has prospered due to the combined efforts of students and teachers.

• Bengali Honours and Programme Courses were introduced after the introduction of CBCS curriculum in 2017 and still this courses are running.

• As per NEP 2020, Bengali Major, Begali Minor and Bengali Multidisciplinary courses has been started from the academic year 2023-2024.
